Job Posting: Marketing & Communications Director, Prattville Area Chamber of Commerce

The Prattville Area Chamber of Commerce is accepting applications for the position of Marketing & Communications Director.
 
Summary of Position:
The Marketing and Communications Director is responsible for all aspects of communication for the organization, including brand management, marketing, public relations, advertising, and social media. Provides support for all communication channels including website, newsletter, and all social media channels. In addition, the position is responsible for program development for professional trainings for the Chamber membership and performing other duties related to the organizations business, as prescribed by the President of the Chamber.

Candidates must be an energetic, personable, organized and demonstrate success in developing and executing a marketing and communications plan. This position requires a self-starter with a minimum of 2-3 years of experience in marketing, communications, or a related field. The candidate must be results oriented and be accountable for measurable goals. Candidates must maintain a professional demeanor, possess strong verbal and written skills, good decision- making skills and excellent interpersonal, multi-tasking and time management skills.

Candidates must be able to work well in and contribute to a team environment and must be willing and able to work a varied schedule. Compensation includes salary with benefits. This position reports directly to the Chamber President.

Marketing & Communications Director 

 

The Marketing and Communications Director is responsible for all aspects of communication for the organization, including brand management, marketing, public relations, advertising, and social media. Provides support for all communication channels including website, newsletter, and all social media channels. In addition, the position is responsible for program development for professional trainings for the Chamber membership. This position reports to the President of the Chamber. 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Communications/Public Relations/Events

  •  Develop, implement, and manage Chamber’s Communications Plan.

  • Oversee the development, maintenance, and enhancement of the Chamber branding.

  • Develop and manage all internal and external communications produced by the Chamber.

  • Oversee the Chamber community events, and other events as directed.

  • Develop and design marketing materials by providing graphic design, as needed.

  • Review and recommend ways to improve and enhance member communications.

  • Build awareness of Chamber events, programs and initiatives including writing and distribution of news releases, newsletter articles, website content and other communication content.

  • Develop and maintain a relationship with members of the news media.

    Publications & Marketing Materials

  • Create, develop, and manage all aspects of the Chamber’s marketing and communications program, including flyers and brochures, newsletter, website, and other marketing materials and publications.

  • Work closely with the Membership Director to develop professional development programs based on information gathered from member visits and member surveys.

  • Oversee the preparation, printing, and distribution for all Chamber publications, including the monthly newsletter and annual Membership Directory with assistance from the Membership Director.

  • Provide creative and graphic support for Chamber programs and events.

  • Take pictures at Chamber programs and events and coordinates the image management for photos and other graphics. Manage video productions for events and marketing purposes.

    Social Media/Website

  • Manage social media networks including Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Instagram, and other adopted platforms. Prepare detailed daily schedule to manage posts and inquiries.

  • Create postings from ribbon cuttings and other key events for Facebook and other social media outlets following each event. Develop standards for language to use when posting different photos/events.

  • Manage calendar for events and create schedule of diverse social media posts.

  • Provide overall strategic direction for content management and design of website. Coordinate updates, redesign efforts and daily content updates and works with the Chamber’s website provider.

Other Duties & Responsibilities

  • Perform various other assignments, special assignments and duties as assigned by the President.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

  • Undergraduate level degree in communications, marketing or related field preferred with a minimum of 2-3 years’ experience.

  • Must possess strong verbal and written communication skills, good decision-making skills and excellent interpersonal, organizational, multi-tasking and time management skills. Must be a self-starter and must be able to work well in and contribute to a team environment.

  • Must have strong computer skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Office and Excel. Familiarity with database management and Canva are preferred. Social media experience with various platforms is desired.

  • Must be results oriented and be accountable for measurable goals.

  • Must be able to portray a professional image within the organization and with the public through conduct, attitude, and dress. There will be frequent contact with Chamber leadership, chamber membership, community leaders and elected officials.

  • Must maintain a professional demeanor and provides accurate, timely information to all contacts.

  • Must be available for Chamber and Community events outside of normal business hours. Mileage will be reimbursed at the IRS approved rate for use of personal vehicle for job related or out of town travel.

  • Requires normal physical stamina.
